B.Tech Bio-Engineering is a 4-year programme. Bio-Engineering and Bio-Informatics is a two-year post-graduate programme designed to expose students to recent exciting developments in the area of Bioengineering & Bioinformatics and their application in industry, agriculture and medicine.

The curriculum of the programme provides students with a strong background in Bioengineering followed by more specific knowledge in the area of choice. The proposed programme focuses on research and education aimed at developing science & technology and new areas of study.

The course is designed to give the students enough exposure to the variety of applications that can be built using techniques covered under this program. The objective of the course is to integrate technology with the medical sciences in such a manner that the synergistic relationship between them can help evolve a better system for medical diagnosis, research, treatment, and support systems.

Eligibility Criteria for B.Tech Bio-Engineering

1. Applicants must have a 10+2 qualification from a recognized board on Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects in Class 12th.

2. Applicants must achieve at least 50% to 60% of the points in the relevant proficiency tests.

3. Eligibility conditions for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PwD categories will be 45% marks in the qualifying examinations.

4. Applicants must not be younger than 17 at the time of application.

Admission Process 

1. Colleges publish admission notices on their website from June when most Indian universities would have finished degree exams.

2. Candidate to apply for each college, as each college considers each mark the cut-off mark.

3. Some private colleges and deemed universities perform their counselling process by conducting their university-level entrance exams.

4. Some colleges require a minimum of 50% aggregate in the qualifying examination.

5. Candidates who qualify for the test are called for an interview before the final seat allotment.

6. Some of the entrance exams for BTech are JEE Main, WBJEE, JEE Advanced, KCET etc.

Career after B.Tech Bio-Engineering

Biomedical Engineering is a specialization that deals with technology, engineering, and biological sciences. An M.Tech Biomedical Engineering has many job scopes for its graduates, including Biomedical Officer, Packaging Officer, Applied Mechanics Engineer, Engineering Technician, Research Assistant, etc.

Numerous applications of the course are available worldwide in the prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of diseases. It is mostly concerned with medical devices, therapies, diagnostic devices and in treating cancerous diseases. This course includes components from other disciplines such as bio-materials, bio-instrumentation, biomechanics, imaging, orthopaedic surgery, genetic engineering, and others.

Many leading companies and organizations release jobs for multiple sectors. The students can also do a government job after completing this course alongside various private jobs. There is enough scope after doing this course. Candidates can work in materials production, development, and research in the industrial sector, or as materials experts in high-level consultancy and management positions.
